As we are working on developing our company logo, I have thought more about how brands display their designs. It also helps that I live next to a major street, where, whenever I look out of the window, I see a lot of company cars waiting at the traffic lights.
There are different ways in which companies try to attract attention to their brand with their designs or slogans.
One strategy is to be amusing, which might also have the result of people taking pictures and sharing them on social networks, thereby providing them with free marketing. For example, the companies use funny images, preferably also featuring animals.
Other companies work with puns, like “Amazing Glaze.”
Companies also use mnemonic techniques to make people remember their companies, such as using slogans, which rhyme.
Still other companies, rely on large pictures attracting interest, such as a huge dinosaur plastered over the entire side of the car.
There are also companies who appeal to more conservative audiences by highlighting their association to traditions and their home nation. For example, they include some of the nation’s mythology.
Pictures of felines also seem to be very popular, regardless of what type of company. I wonder if that is due to the connotations lions, panthers and other big cats have or because of the association with the lion as England’s national animal and a symbol of royalty.
I am sure that there are many other different options as well. However, what all of these designs have in common is that they reflect the brand and who their target audience is.
