Tom & David Kelley wrote a book called Creative Confidence, which was given to us on our first day of university.
There are several points in the design thinking development they stress, which I think my team has managed to tick off the list.
- Team: we spent a lot of time on teambuilding and getting to know each other, before even starting to talk about what kind of product/service we are interested in creating
- Not jumping to solutions: we tried for a very long time to frame and understand the problem, before we started to think about what the product could look like
- Empathy: we tried to increase our understanding of the target group by buying a wheelchair and sitting in it ourselves
- Prototyping: we made sure to start prototyping in co-corporation with a school as soon as possible
Therefore, I think we did quite well considering we were a bit sceptical about the design thinking method at first. But the results really have paid off.
